Poster Adds URL Scheme for Custom Fields ⇒

Poster, the amazing WordPress editor for iOS, has added the feature that has completed my mobile posting workflow. You can now autofill a custom field through the URL scheme.

I posted a bookmarklet that allows you to send the current Safari page to Poster using the page title. However, the old version of Poster made you include body text, and didn’t allow you to pass a custom field. Now you can.

Federico Viticci posted some bookmarklets for use with the new URL scheme. Here are the ones I am using:

  1. The first one is for the iPhone. I use the Daring Fireball-style Linked List Plugin, and this bookmarklet will pass the page title to the post and also fill in the URL into the linked_list_url field:

    javascript:window.location='posterapp:///create?title='+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+'&callback_url='+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+'&customfield_linked_list_url='+encodeURI(location.href);

  2. The second bookmarklet is for the iPad. It works the same, except that it send the selected text to the post body:

    javascript:window.location='posterapp:///create?text='+encodeURIComponent(window.getSelection())    +'&title='+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+'&callback_url='+encodeURIComponent(location.href)    +'&customfield_linked_list_url='+encodeURI(location.href);

Enjoy!
